The base figure I used was a S.T.A.R. Corps action figure, a knockoff (well, licensed) GIJoe space figure sold in blister packs at places like Wal-Mart and K-Mart. I returned to Quantum, a figure I used for Cyclonus. My goal was to create a gunrobo, and I decided on minimal use of putty for this project.

    The gun barrel was made from a length of 3/8" plastic pipe, tipped with the barrel end of a missile launcher from a Godzilla movie action figure (I got a bunch of them for a physics lab on ballistics, but the hand-held launchers weren't as useful as the mortars, so I tossed them in the kitbash bag). I filed down a section of the barrel to accept a Lego piece as a connector. Note, it's not shown in the picture, but the Godzilla figure's missiles can fit in the barrel. They don't fire, but hey. The secondary gun is simply a G.I. Joe bazooka slightly filed down and glued to another Lego connector. I glued Lego pieces to both forearms and filled in the area with putty to make connection points for the two weapons.

    After abandoning the idea of connecting the gun barrel to the figure's head, I decided to use one of the backpacks that come with the STAR Force figures. I snapped the tip off Angela's spear (Spawn line, I've got a bag of leftover Spawn bits from my other projects) and glued it to the top of the pack after snipping off the pak's antenna. I also added two Lego pieces to the sides as missile racks, filed down a bit and filled with putty.

    My last bits of reshaping were to add a Spark crystal with putty and totally reshape the head. My initial plan was just to give Quantum a better faceplate, but I mixed too much putty and decided to use it to go for the bullethead look. Then it was just a matter of sanding down the rough bits and painting the figure and adding the "Gundamlines."

After repeated betrayals and ambushes, Megatron decided he needed a bodyguard. Taking inspiration from his namesake's original Terran form, he constructed Recoil, giving the new Vehicon the now-rare ability to shed mass and size during transformation. Recoil normally remains on Megatron's person in handgun mode, but is always ready to leap to the defense if needed. His main gun fires a concentrated antiproton beam that is functionally a linear explosion if used in the atmosphere. His secondary gun is a powerful blacklight laser which is deadly out to five kilometers in the atmosphere, or ten times as far in a vacuum. As if that was not enough, missile racks over either shoulder in robot mode contain smart missiles that can seek out hidden targets anywhere within three kilometers, once he has a Maximal signature lock. Recoil has very little initiative and less personality...Megatron is not taking chances that a self-willed weapon on his person will decide to turn on him.
