Another clearanced Allura, this time the original Trendmasters version. Because of a trident I had sitting around from another toy and the energy shield that came with Allura, I decided to go with a gladiator look for this kitbash. I researched gladiator helmets for a bit and decided to synthesize a few different designs into one head.

First I removed the hair from Allura, as it was a separate piece glued onto the head. Things were a bit complicated by the fact that this figure was glued together rather than screwed together, so I couldn't work on the head separate from the body. After the hair was off, I took the cutting disk attachment of my Dremel and sliced a groove in the skull. Into this groove I glued a top fin I'd cut from styrene plastic. Then I used small amounts of putty to mold the rest of the helmet, carefully sculpting in little details like the roman-style "lip" over the eyes, and using a pin to poke holes in the faceplate. Sure, Transformers don't need breathing holes, but I liked the look of the things.

The other bit of sculpting I did was the asymmetrical shoulder armor. I molded the piece onto the right shoulder, sculpted a lip onto it while soft, but left the hollowing of the underside until it was hardened and I could Dremel it out. Also, while the putty was still soft, I used a pin to add rivet holes and to mold the Decepticopn emblem. Yes, the 'Con symbol is sculpted into the figure, not just painted on.

Finally, it was a matter of painting the thing. The original figure was blue with silver accents. I painted most of the silver parts gold and made the upper body dark tan and gold. Then I filled in the "gundamlines" on the figure. On the tan and gold areas, I used a blue technical pen. On the blue areas, I used gold paint and wiped away or painted over the excess. I considered coloring in the faceplate holes, but decided to let the sculpt speak for itself.

This version of Allura did have pegholes in the feet, so I didn't need to make my own as I did with Bugbyte.

DECEPTICON: Arena
Function: Close Combat Expert
Motto: "There will be mechfluid in the sand."

One of the few Actionmasters built to be an Actionmaster in the first place, Arena's body is designed to take maximum advantage of the Nucleon that powers her. Special red synthetic jewels called "focus gems" are located about her body, concentrating the nucleon's power. Incredibly agile and strong, she has few equals in hand combat, even without the use of her energon trident and net. The trident is an energon construct that can stab through all but the strongest chest armor. Arena can also throw the trident, but it takes her 5 seconds to generate a replacement using the focus gem on her right hand. Her energon net is a more versatile weapon, usable both offensively to ensnare foes and defensively as a shield. If detached to leave a foe entangled, Arena can generate a new net in 3 seconds using the focus gems on her left hand. When she activates the focus gems elsewhere on her body, she can get a burst of speed that appears almost like teleportation. Arena is a very cold fighter, never giving into bursts of rage or impatience. However, she is not unemotional...she simply knows that to give into them during a fight can be fatal.
